Anti Candida Diet – What is it
An anti-candida diet is actually pretty easy to understand. You simply cannot eat foods that encourage yeast growth. The main food you need to avoid is sugar. All sugar! You can eat a few sweets, though, so don’t worry. Are you a baker? Have you been in a bakery? Do you know how bread rises? What makes bread rise? Yeast, as it ferments, is what makes bread rise. As the yeast ferments, it gets bigger and that causes the rising. Candida yeast in your body is like yeast in a bakery. It ferments and expands and you don’t want that to happen.
Where does yeast get food from? From sugars, of course. You have to stay away from sugars. That means reading labels before you eat. Anything that ends in “ose” (maltose, dextrose, sucrose) are sugars that you will want to avoid. Also, stay away from honey and maple sugars. You can eat stevia and stevioside because they are not sugars and do not encourage yeast growth.
Everytime you have a sugar filled soda, you are
feeding the yeast in your system. An anti-candida diet means avoiding sugar foods like cookies, cakes and muffins so you don’t give the yeast in your body any more fuel to grow.
You can eat things with stevioside (which comes from plants) and JAJA Stevioside and Honey Stevia Leaf because they are not actually sugars even though they are called that. They are artificial sweeteners and that means that unlike honey and other sugar based products, they do not fuel the yeast growth in your body. They are also not carbohydrates so they can be part of an anti-candida diet. These artificial sweeteners have a 3-carbon ring center in the molecules, which means yeast is not able to attach to them and feed from them. Stevia and stevioside are fine to include in your anti candida diet.
