PostHeaderIcon Treating Skin Yeast Infections

A lot of people develop skin yeast infections on their body at some point in their life. They can happen anywhere but some areas of the body are more prone to skin yeast infections including places where the skin rubs together and where it is moist. The following information will explain why you get skin yeast infections and how you can treat them.

We all have Candida albicans (also known as yeast) in our intestines. Our skin is usually able to resist the damage that the yeast can do unless the skin becomes compromised. If that happens, the yeast is able to break through and infect areas of the body. Places where skin rubs together or that are moist are the places where you generally develop skin yeast infections. The folds of your skin are common places for skin yeast infections. Your arm pits, below your breasts, and your groin are places that can be moist and that puts your skin at risk for infection fro the yeast in your body.

The first symptom of a skin yeast infection is an itchy rash. The rash has clear borders so it stands out on your skin and is easy to see. Your skin may also become red and swollen at the infected area. There is the possibility that there will be some discharge from the rash.

It is not hard to treat skin yeast infections. You need to make sure the infected area is dry and clean at all times. It should be washed with an non-allergenic soap and patted dry, then dusted with talc powder (unscented). Tea tree oil or garlic oil can be soothing as well. You can use one of the over the counter anti-fungal creams you will find at a drugstore as well.

Skin yeast infections cause a lot of itchiness but you should not scratch the affected area or it will become more irritated. Do not touch the infected area and then touch other parts of your body or the infection may end up spreading over other areas of the body. If you take the advice in this article, you will be able to treat your skin yeast infections and hopefully prevent them from coming back.
